April 15, 2025: On 15th April 2025, more than 100 faithful from Adyapady–Anthonykatte parish undertook a 6-kilometer walking pilgrimage from Bajpe to the sacred Pezar Hills, prayerfully joining hundreds of devotees in observing the historic 241st Way of the Cross, a solemn annual tradition organized by St. Joseph Church, Pezar.
Pilgrims from Pezar, Bajpe, Ferar, Permude, Gurupura, and Adyapady walked in a disciplined and prayerful procession from the Bajpe check post to Pezar Church, chanting prayers and hymns along the way. The pilgrimage, begun in the early hours of the morning, was marked by unity and devotion as participants reflected on the Passion of Christ.
Upon reaching Pezar Hills, the faithful took part in the centuries-old Way of the Cross, revered for its deep spiritual significance and historical continuity. A highlight of the day was the Holy Eucharistic Mass celebrated by Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of the Diocese of Mangalore, together with the priests of Pezar. During the celebration, the bishop honoured the sponsors, organizers, and donors by presenting them with blessed candles, both before and after the Mass.
The 241st annual observance commenced from Pezar Church. Two significant stations stood out for their solemn enactments—the Sixth Station (Veronica wipes the face of Jesus) and the Thirteenth Station (The body of Jesus is taken down from the Cross)—which were prayerfully dramatized by the devotees, adding a moving dimension to the devotion.
Fr. Denis D’Sa, PRO of the Udupi Diocese and Parish Priest of Thottam, delivered an inspiring reflection, urging the faithful to find courage and strength in the Passion of Christ during their personal trials and sufferings. The day-long spiritual celebration concluded late in the evening, with a fellowship meal shared by all, marking the end of a memorable and faith-filled event.
