August 15, 2025: The parishioners of St. Antony Church, Anthonykatte, came together with deep devotion and patriotic spirit to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady alongside the 79th Independence Day of our Nation on 15th August 2025. The day began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, where the faithful offered prayers of thanksgiving and sought the intercession of Mother Mary for peace, unity, and blessings upon the country.
Following the mass, the St. Antony Youth (SAY) organized a grand patriotic flag-hoisting ceremony in the church premises. The tricolour was unfurled by Fr. Prakash Lobo, who also delivered the presidential address, urging the faithful to uphold the values of faith, love, and patriotism in their lives.
The programme continued with the introduction of the chief guest by Royston D’Souza, after which Mrs. Precilla D’Souza, the chief guest of the day, addressed the gathering with a motivating message on faith, unity, and national pride. Other dignitaries on stage included Sr. Philomina, Fathima Ward Gurkar Mr. Flix Mathais, and SAY representative Mr. Melwil D’Souza.
The ceremonial Camadar was conducted by Lenston Fernandes, and the programme was compered with elegance by Andriya D’Costa. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Sweedal Mathais, appreciating all who contributed to the success of the celebration.
The dual celebration of faith and freedom not only brought the parish community together in prayer and festivity but also inspired the faithful to live as committed Christians and responsible citizens of the nation.
