Feast of the Relic of St. Antony Celebrated at Anthonykatte

February 15, 2025: The faithful of St. Antony Church, Anthonykatte, came together in large numbers on Saturday, February 15, 2025, to celebrate the Feast of the Relic of St. Antony with great devotion and fervor. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop Emeritus of Mangalore, while the homily was meaningfully preached by Fr. Abraham, SVD, inspiring the congregation with the life and virtues of St. Antony of Padua.

A large number of devotees from Anthonykatte, neighboring parishes, and distant places participated in the feast, seeking the intercession of St. Antony, the miracle worker and beloved saint of the faithful. At the conclusion of the celebration, dinner was joyfully served to all devotees, reflecting the spirit of unity and fellowship.

Triduum Preparations:

In preparation for the feast, a three-day Triduum was held at Anthonykatte, led by Fr. Sunil George D’Souza, Fr. Anil Joel D’Souza, and Fr. Vivian Rodrigues. Each day, the preachers highlighted different aspects of St. Antony’s life, his simplicity, love for the poor, and his deep devotion to the Word of God. The Triduum drew many devotees, who actively participated in the novena prayers and Eucharistic celebrations.

During these three days, the parish community arranged for simple non-vegetarian meals to be served to all the faithful who attended, creating an atmosphere of fraternity and service in keeping with the tradition of Christian hospitality.

A Growing Devotion:

The Feast of the Relic of St. Antony, introduced in Anthonykatte in recent years, has grown into a significant annual event that draws devotees in increasing numbers. The combination of prayer, Eucharistic devotion, preaching, and fellowship meals has made this feast not only a spiritual celebration but also a powerful expression of community life.

The faithful left with hearts filled with gratitude, strengthened in faith, and encouraged to follow the example of St. Antony in living lives of simplicity, charity, and devotion to God.
