The grounds of St Antony Church, Anthonykatte came alive with culture, laughter, and meaningful entertainment as the parish organized the much-acclaimed Konkani play ‘Chiri (Thees Nannyanchi)’ on 28th February 2026. Vice President Rajesh D’Costa introduced Asthithva (R) troop and welcomed all.
The super hit Konkani drama was presented by the renowned cultural troupe Asthithva (R) and witnessed an overwhelming response from the audience, with more than 400 people gathering to enjoy the performance. The event marked the 15th successful staging of this widely appreciated play.
‘Chiri (Thees Nannyanchi)’ is written by Rev. Dr. Alwin Serrao, Principal of Milagres College. The play, known for its humorous presentation blended with strong social messaging, kept the audience engaged throughout and received immense appreciation from attendees of all age groups.
The spectators thoroughly enjoyed the performance and conveyed their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Team Asthithva (R) for promoting Konkani language, culture, and theatre through such meaningful productions.
At the conclusion of the programme, a special felicitation ceremony was held to honour Rev. Dr. Alwin Serrao and Christopher D’Souza, the director and main actor of the play. The felicitation was carried out by V. Rev. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, acknowledging their valuable contribution to Konkani theatre and cultural enrichment.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr Francis Rodrigues, who expressed gratitude to the artists, organizers, volunteers, and parishioners for making the event a grand success.
