Catechism Day Celebrated at Adyapady–Anthonykatte Parish

22 February 2026: Catechism Day of Adyapady–Anthonykatte Parish was solemnly celebrated on 22nd February 2026 during the 8.00 a.m. Holy Mass at Adyapady Church. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Remi Austin Fernandes, with Parish Priest Fr. Francis Rodrigues concelebrating the Mass.

Following the Holy Mass, a grand celebration was held at the Church Hall. The programme witnessed enthusiastic and full participation from catechism students, parents, teachers, and parishioners, making the occasion a joyful celebration of faith, unity, and fellowship.

Students from both Adyapady and Anthonykatte units actively participated in the cultural programme. The children presented a colourful variety entertainment that included songs, skits, and dances reflecting the moral and spiritual values learned through catechism formation. Their performances were warmly appreciated by the gathering.

To promote dedication and academic excellence, prizes were distributed to the toppers of each catechism class. Students who secured 100% attendance throughout the catechism year were specially honoured, encouraging regular participation and commitment to faith formation. Prizes were also distributed for well-maintained catechism notebooks.

The programme was graced by Fr. Remi Austin Fernandes, Fr. Francis Rodrigues, and Br. Ajay D’Souza. The dignitaries present on the dais included Mr. Rajesh D’Costa, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs. Sujatha D’Souza, Secretary; Sr. Pholimena, Sr. Jyothi, and Sr. Jyothi.

A special highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of catechism teachers from both Adyapady and Anthonykatte parishes in recognition of their selfless service and dedication in nurturing the faith of young minds. Tokens of appreciation were presented to acknowledge their invaluable contribution to the parish community.

Addressing the gathering, the Parish Priest emphasized the importance of catechism in building a strong spiritual foundation among children and encouraged parents to actively support faith education at home. The celebration stood as a reaffirmation of the parish community’s commitment to passing on the values of faith, love, and service to the younger generation.

The programme was compered by Suhan D’Costa, while Alrisha Monteiro welcomed the gathering.
