Good Friday Observed with Devotion at St. Antony Church, Anthonykatte

April 03, 2026: The faithful of St. Antony Church, Anthonykatte, gathered in large numbers on 3rd April 2026 to observe Good Friday, a day of solemn remembrance of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ.

The day’s observances commenced at 9:00 a.m. with the Way of the Cross, reverently led by the children, in accordance with the Diocese of Mangalore’s declaration of 2026 as the “Year of Children.” Through hymns and reflective prayers, they guided the faithful into a deeper contemplation of Christ’s suffering and sacrifice.

In the evening, the Good Friday liturgical ceremony was held at 5:00 p.m., presided over by the Fr George Crasta SVD, Rector of St Peter’s Apostolic School minor Seminary of SVD, Kirem. The liturgy was marked by the reading of the Passion of Christ, the solemn prayers for the Church and the world, and the veneration of the Holy Cross, where parishioners reverently kissed and bowed before the crucifix as a sign of devotion.

The service reached its spiritual depth as the faithful partook in the Holy Communion service, recalling Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross for the salvation of humanity. The church atmosphere was filled with silence, prayer, and devotion as the congregation participated in the sacred rites with great reverence.

The Good Friday observances at St. Antony Church concluded with the faithful leaving in silence, carrying in their hearts the message of Christ’s ultimate act of love and sacrifice, as they prepared to celebrate the joy of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
