August 15, 2026: The parishioners of St. Antony Church, Anthonykatte, came together in an atmosphere of faith, devotion, and patriotism to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady along with the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026.
The celebrations began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, during which the faithful offered prayers of thanksgiving and sought the intercession of Mother Mary for peace, unity, prosperity, and blessings upon the nation.
Following the Holy Mass, the St. Antony Youth (SAY) organized a patriotic flag-hoisting ceremony on the church premises. The National Tricolour was unfurled by Rev. Fr. Francis D’Souza, marking the spirit of national pride and unity.






The programme continued with the introduction of the chief guest by Sushan D’Costa. Rev. Fr. Francis D’Souza, the chief guest of the occasion, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of faith, unity, love, service, and patriotism. He encouraged the faithful to uphold Christian values while fulfilling their responsibilities as citizens of the nation.
The occasion was graced by Vice President of PPC, Shri Rajesh D’Costa Sr. Jyothi, Fathima Ward Gurkar, Mr. Felix Mathais, and SAY representative Mr. Lenston Fernandes.
The ceremonial Camadar was conducted by Ian Mathias, while Anvitha Pinto compered the programme with grace and enthusiasm. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Lenston Fernandes, expressing appreciation to all the clergy, dignitaries, youth members, parishioners, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the programme.
The beautiful celebration of faith and freedom brought the parish community together in prayer, fellowship, and patriotic spirit. It served as a meaningful reminder for everyone to live as committed Christians, loving members of the community, and responsible citizens of the nation.
