April 17, 2025: St. Antony Church, Anthonykatte, commemorated Maundy Thursday with deep devotion and solemnity on 17th April 2025. The Holy Eucharistic celebration was led by Rev. Fr. Alwyn Pinto SVD, who presided over the liturgy marking the beginning of the Sacred Paschal Triduum.
During the Mass, the significant ritual of the washing of the feet of the twelve apostles was carried out by Fr. Alwyn Pinto, symbolizing Christ’s commandment of humility, service, and love. This moving act reminded the faithful of Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples and the mandate He gave to serve one another in love.
The liturgy included the solemn institution of the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood, which were prayerfully reflected upon during the homily. The congregation actively participated in the hymns, prayers, and rituals that emphasized Christ’s supreme sacrifice of love.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the Blessed Sacrament was reverently taken in a procession and placed at the altar of repose. Devotees spent time in silent adoration, recalling Jesus’ agony in Gethsemane and uniting in prayerful vigil.
